Original Post

The Government has announced an extension to the Job Retention (furlough) scheme up to the end of November, as England prepares to go into lockdown once again.

As a result of this extension, the proposed new job support scheme, that was intended to replace the furlough scheme, has been pushed back.

The extension of the furlough scheme will cover employees in England who will receive 80% of their current salary up to a cap of £2,500 for hours not worked, initially until 30 November 2020. Employers will still be required to cover furloughed employees’ NI contributions and pension contributions.

Business Grants

The Treasury also revealed businesses forced to close in England are to receive grants worth up to £3,000 per month under the local restrictions support grant.
